Got nothing to do in the wake of Covid? Watched all the films you thought were worth watching? Maybe not. After some deliberation I have put together this list of not necessarily my favourite films or even the best films, but films that are totally worth watching. Films that after I watched them I sat back and thought, that was a bloody good film. If you find something on here you haven't seen, maybe check it out and report back what you thought. :) These aren't in any specific order and yes there's probably tons of good films that aren't on here. These are just the ones I thought were interesting enough. Feel free to suggest some of your own. PS, there's 101 because I did 100 then realised I had two 54s. ¬¬
1. Alien
A timeless classic. What makes Alien so good is that all the actors involved bring their A game, lending the whole thing a sense of realism that really lets it convey that fear of being trapped aboard a ship in space with an unknown deadly entity. The retro style future tech ensures that the film never feels like its aged as it was never really futuristic to begin with. And of course, the iconic xenomorph never comes across as silly or clumsy. A true masterpiece.
2. Trollhunter
This is a found footage style movie entirely in Norwegian. The simple premise is that Trolls are real and the Norwegian government has been covering that shit up and passing it off as bear attacks. Some media students go on a road trip to track down the Trollhunter, a man that ensures the Trolls stay in their allotted areas out in the norwegian wilderness. It's a lot like Cloverfield only a billion times better. Speaking of Cloverfield...
3. 10 Cloverfield Lane
While the original Cloverfield did little for me it did give rise to the sequel 10 Cloverfield Lane. John Goodman is exceptional in this film. A young woman is in a traffic accident. She awakens to find she is being given medical treatment, chained to a bed in a basement. John Goodman reveals that he is a prepper and she and another man are in his bunker. The outside is dangerous, possibly as the aftermath of a chemical attack and that she cannot go outside which is why she was restrained. What follows is a tense situation as the two younger characters find John Goodman increasingly creepy and suspect he isn't telling them the whole truth. But is that evidence enough that he could be lying about it not being safe outside?
4. Event Horizon
Hellraiser had already tried taking body horror to space in Hellraiser 4 but Event Horizon does it better. A spaceship went missing. When it returns, sans crew, a team including Sam Neill and Laurence Fishburne is sent to investigate. They soon find out that things are not quite as they seem.
5. Saw
Sure, the Saw franchise may have outstayed its welcome but the first movie of the bunch really invigorated the body horror genre and delivered a fun twist at the end. A brilliant standalone film though your mileage with the sequels may vary.
6. Terminator 2
Sure, the first Terminator film is a stone cold classic, but T2 stands alone as the one time a sequel was genuinely better than the original in every way. I doubt I need to say much else about it.
7. Pitch Black
A spaceship crashes on a planet carrying a dangerous prisoner. As the crew make their way to an abandoned station on the planet that has a ship they can use to leave, they realise that the planet's three suns are setting, plunging the planet into a night that will last for months. This also means the subterranean photosensitive man eating aliens will emerge. Thank god that dangerous prisoner can see in the dark...
8. The Fly
You probably already know this one, specifically the Jeff Goldblum version. Martin Brundle invents a teleporter that can transfer the contents of one pod to another pod. It works pretty well up until the point he decides to teleport himself. A fly enters the pod with him as he enters and he find that his DNA has been merged with the fly's when he exits, leading to a lengthy transition as he becomes more and more fly-like in appearance and behaviour.
9. The Hole (2001)
A handful of teenagers find an abandoned military shelter and decide to have a cool party down there. Naturally they get locked in and trapped down there, having a real miserable time of it. Can't really say much else cos spoilers but yeah, classic. IIRC it has Thora Birch and Keira Knightly in (back before the latter was super famous).
10. The Princess Bride
A classic fantasy film, noted for its brilliant swordfight between Dread Pirate Westley and Inigo Montoya as well as the battle of wits between Westley and Vizzini. It has an allstar cast that includes Peter Falk, Fred Savage, Cary Elwes, Andre the Giant, Billy Crystal and Mel Smith. Princess Buttercup is forced to become betrothed to Prince Humperdinck. She then gets kidnapped by Vizzini and his cronies before being rescued by the Dread Pirate Roberts aka Westley, her long lost lover.
11. Robin Hood: Men in Tights
Cary Elwes again, this time in the excellent parody of Robin Hood : Prince of Thieves. It's a classic Mel Brooks film so if you already enjoyed Blazing Saddles or Spaceballs then you've probably already seen this one but if not, boy are you in for some laughs.
12. Predestination
It's hard to say much about Predestination without spoiling it. Just go in blind, trust me.
13. Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Another classic silly comedy, the British comedy troupe known collectively as Monty Python play multiple roles each as they spin the tale of King Arthur and his knights as they search for the holy grail. Honourable mention for "The Life of Brian", the follow up that was more of the same but with the story of Jesus.
14. Crank
Imagine Speed but it's a man not a bus. Jason Statham is professional hitman Chev Chelios. He wakes up one morning to find that his enemies have injected him with a dangerous substance that will kill him if his heart rate drops below a certain level. Cue an adrenaline fuelled ride as Chev does everything in his power to keep his pulse up as he tracks down an antidote. Very silly, but really manages to convey that sense of adrenaline.
15. Aliens
I don't want to load this list with films and their sequels but Aliens deserves to be on here just for the expert genre switch, taking the original sci-fi horror film and turning it into a brilliant sci fi action movie. It expands perfectly on the originals story and wraps it up nicely so you don't have to watch other lesser entries in the franchise. The perfect sequel.
16. Ghostbusters
Man there's a lot of Sigourney Weaver on this list. she has a habit of cropping up in good films. Ghostbusters is great. Bill Murray on top form, Rick Moranis as well. It's also worth a look at those ghost special effects. I mean really, have we ever seen any other films that look quite like that? There's just something really unique about that look both on the cgi of the ghosts and the effects on the proton packs.
17. Galaxy Quest
What, here she is again? Sigourney Weaver along with Tim Allen and Alan Rickman in this comedy film about a bunch of actors in a Star Trek style show that are kidnapped by real aliens who have mistaken them for the characters they play in the hope that they can defend their race from an evil enemy.
18. Iron Man
There won't be many superhero films on this list because honestly, I don't find them that entertaining. Iron Man, however, was a real standout. Maybe it was because it was nice to get a film that wasn't another spider, super or bat-man film. Maybe it was also because Downey Jr played Tony Stark so well. For those who love the Marvel films, its success pretty much led to the ridiculous scope of the many MCU films that followed in its wake giving them plenty more superhero stuff to get their teeth into.
19. A Scanner Darkly
Well, while we're on about Downey Jr lets go back in time to before he was Iron Man and into this fascinating film starring Keanu Reeves and Woody Harrelson alongside him. The film was shot digitally and (looks on wikipedia) animated using interpolated rotoscope. What does that mean? No idea, but the end result is an animated film that looks... real. It's a film that explores paranoia, oppressive government surveillance and widespread drug use and is a real mindfuck film. I've watched it twice and some bits are still pretty confusing. It's based on a Phillip K Dick novel so if you liked Blade Runner, this will likely be up your alley.
20. Die Hard
Surely we've all seen Die Hard? Best Christmas movie of all time. :P John McClane is a cop, off duty and travelling to try and reconcile with his estranged wife over christmas. Sadly, a group of terrorists crash his wife's office xmas party at Nakatomi plaza, taking the staff hostage in an effort to steal hundreds of millions of dollars worth of untraceable bearer's bonds. McClane goes on a one man stealth rampage to take out the terrorists one by one.
21. Happy Gilmore
Adam Sandler. Pretty fair to call him divisive at this point but there was a point where he was on top form. Happy Gilmore is a comedy film about an aggressive hockey player who gets banned from competing and instead turns to golf where his drive is legendary but his putting is awful. The usual sports star underdog story but definitely one of the better examples.
22. Dredd
There have been some disastrous attempts to bring comic book character Judge Dredd to the big screen. So far, the only success was 2012's effort starring Karl Urban. A fantastic job of bringing Dredd to life that learnt from the mistakes of past efforts. Karl Urban is a perfect choice for Dredd as he is happy to keep the damn helmet on the for the whole film while skillfully acting with his lower jaw only. He manages to be a completely convincing Dredd. The supporting cast are great with Lena Heady playing the main villain and Olivia Thirlby as psychic Judge Anderson. Add in slow mo scenes shot by the Slow-mo guys (of youtube fame) and its truly a wild ride with a really satisfying resolution to the plot. It may be the only good Dredd film we ever get, so enjoy it. Also Karl Urban. :D
23. Starship Troopers
A very silly film that follows a bunch of rookie signups in the Mobile Infantry, fighting a space war against a race of buglike aliens. It's a goofy action movie but it really delivers.
24. Independence Day
I'm not usually big on the huge blockbuster films but Independence Day is pretty great. Jeff Goldblum cropping up again with Will Smith too. As the title might suggest it's America Vs Aliens and naturally America wins. XD Pretty fun though and good for the whole family.
25. Team America: World Police
Speaking of America... The puppet based parody of American awesomeness that you never asked for brought to you by the people responsible for South Park. Sure it's crass, low brow comedy but hey, sometimes that's ok. There's some genuinely great puppetry in there too.
26. Sexy Beast
Don't let the title fool you, this film is about retired gangster Ray Winstone and his boss's efforts to recruit him for one last heist... by sending the insufferable asshole and sociopath Don Logan (played by Ben Kingsley) to bully and intimidate him after asking politely yields only refusal.
27. Hush
Lotta horror on here but I'm a fan of horror done well. The twist in Hush is that the "victim" is deaf. A deaf woman alone in her house when a creepy weirdo tries to break in. Scenes shown from her viewpoint in silence add to the spooky atmosphere and arguably led to a whole run of sensory deprived horror such as A Quiet Place and Bird Box.
28. Tremors
On the cheesier side of horror is the Kevin Bacon headed low budget Tremors. A small american settlement in the middle of nowhere is terrorized by giant underground worms who are attracted to noise. Genuinely one of my favourite films of all time.
29. Being John Malkovich
OK, so this one is weird. A man discovers a door in his office that when you enter it, puts you in the head of real actor John Malkovich for fifteen minutes before spitting you out on the edge of a motorway.
30. Labyrinth
Classic fantasy. A young girl, Sarah, accidentally quotes an old verse that allows Jareth, the Goblin King (David Bowie) to take possession of her baby brother and whisk him away to the centre of his Labyrinth. Sarah has until midnight to traverse the impossibly unfair labyrinth and rescue him.
31. Bloodshot
Vin Diesel in this cyberpunk action flick as a soldier who died and was resurrected with nanotech. Now he wants to find the guy who killed him and his wife but all is not as it seems. Some brilliant action sequences here and fun story twist.
32. Bloodsport
On to kung fu! Classic martial arts movie starring Jean Claude Van Damme and Bolo Yeung based loosely on the real life Frank Dux. JCVD enters an illegal martial arts tournament known as the Kumite. It's great.
33. Deadpool
It's Deadpool, c'mon, you know this. Batshit crazy, fourth wall breaking "superhero" Wade Wilson is blursed with rapid healing a la Wolverine due to having megacancer. He literally can't die. He's also hilarious.
34. Total Recall
The original, not the crappy remake. A real mindbender as Arnold Schwarzenegger goes on a VR style holiday experience as a superspy but the lines between reality and fiction start to blur when it turns out he might have already been an amnesiac superspy deep undercover in the first place.
35. Robocop
Let's keep the vintage action theme going with Robocop. In a dystopian future, reckless cop Murphy gets shot to death by laughing gangsters in a pretty brutal scene (with awesome practical effects). Rescued from the brink of death Murphy's brain is transplanted into a cybernetic body turning him into Robocop. He struggles to deal with this new afterlife and his dual nature after coming across one of the men who originally killed him and having his supressed memories return to him.
36. Demolition Man
Man I love this movie. Sylvester Stallone, Wesley Snipes and Sandra Bullock. What a line up. When cop John Spartan trashes a whole city block while chasing down criminal Simon Phoenix he shares in Phoenix's punishment. Both are placed in cryostasis to serve out their sentences, to be thawed out in the future. Meanwhile in the future, things have chilled out. The place is a happy, family friendly, utopia with a sinister underbelly. When Simon Phoenix escapes from his cryopod and begins wreaking havoc, the modern day police force realise they need someone from his era to bring him in. So they thaw out Stallone. The whole affair is pretty tongue in cheek but it's a real fun movie.
37. The Matrix
As a stand alone film the Matrix is pretty good but obviously our big takeaway here is how damn good those special effects were and how it went on to influence film after film with its bullet time slow motion. Stylish.
38. Pulp Fiction
The temptation to load this up with Tarantino films was strong but I'll restrain myself and go with just one. Pulp Fiction is a super cool film, that's all you need. If you really haven't seen it before, you're missing out. Kinda don't wanna spoil anything with this one so we'll just say, it's about a crime boss and follows the events of people involved with him one way or another. If you like it, you might as well just watch everything else he's done because it's all good.
39. Tucker and Dale Vs Evil
Tucker and Dale are hillbillies in the kind of movie where hillbillies would be the murderers. But they are not the murderers. They just happen to be around as a group of clueless teens start getting murdered. Fun parody of the slasher flick. And now I've mentioned them, I guess...
40. Scream
When it comes to slashers there are some obvious big IPs like Jason and Freddy but honestly, I was a big fan of the first Scream movie. It lampshaded the genre's tropes with its self aware style and delivered a great twist ending true to its genre. Great cast too.
41. Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery
The first Austin Powers movie was hilarious. I feel like it went downhill from there with each additional installment but the first one is solid, peak Mike Myers as it perfectly parodies the Bond Film.
42. Cube
The film that started my obsession for this weird genre of group amnesia horror, a group of people wake up in a simple cube shaped room with no memory of how they got there. Together they must find a way out through various deathtraps. Amazing indie film with a simple premise but stunning execution. There are a whole bunch of other films that utilise this concept but Cube remains the best.
43. The Disappearance of Alice Creed
Another low budget masterpiece. Two men kidnap a young woman to hold her for ransom from her wealthy father. Anything else would be a spoiler.
44. Cape Fear
Robert DeNiro takes a turn as the slasher in this movie about a family pursued by a criminal that the lawyer father failed to get off. The original behind that rake scene in the Simpsons.
45. Child's Play
The 1998 original. Yet more horror. Deranged murderer Charles Lee Ray (Chucky) played by Brad Dourif, is gunned down in a shopping mall. With his dying breath he voodoos his soul into the nearest object, a child's doll. Now inhabiting the doll's body he is given to youngster Andy as a Christmas present. Chucky convinces Andy he is alive and manipulates him into finding the voodoo priest who taught him the ritual so he can figure out how to get back into a human body. Spawned many sequels which got wackier as time went on. Honourable mention for Bride of Chucky with an amazing turn by Jennifer Tilly playing both herself and the doll planning to steal her body.
46. Enemy at the Gates
Based on the life of a real ww2 Russian sniper this is a great film about two enemy snipers trying to take each other out. Jude Law stars, which reminds me...
47. Existenz
Jude Law again. New video game Existenz is so immersive it feels real. However much like Total Recall or the Matrix, telling what's real from what's fake can be tricky. This layers of reality concept would go on to see big success in Inception but I feel Existenz was a better film.
48. We're the Millers
A small time dope dealer owes money to his crime boss and ends up having to smuggle drugs across the mexican border. He recruits his stripper neighbour and two teens to pose as an all american family to make the whole thing less suspicious. It's a comedy so things obviously escalate and get wacky. Jennifer Aniston does a very sexy dance but that's not necessarily the only reason this is on here. XD
49. The Big Lebowski
Sticking with the marijuana theme with this classic stoner comedy. John Goodman showing up again with Steve Buscemi and Jeff Bridges who plays The Dude, a zen-like stoner who gets mixed up in some crime business when he is accidentally mistaken for a different Lebowski.
50. Loaded Weapon
So who remembers The Naked Gun? Uhu and what about Lethal Weapon? Ok so now merge the two and you have the Lethal Weapon parody film Loaded Weapon. There's a few of these parody films from that era such as Hot Shots, for example, but this was the standout one for me. Emilio Estevez, Whoopi Goldberg, Tim Curry all getting wacky as they take the mickey out of those classic buddy cop movies.
51. Not Another Teen Movie
So after Scream came out there was another wave of parody style movies in the form of Scary Movie, Epic Movie, Date Movie and so on. Some were better than others but the standout was Not Another Teen Movie, a parody of films like Pretty in Pink, She's All That and Ten Things I Hate About You.
52. Who Framed Roger Rabbit
In a time before all the fancy CGI we take for granted these days this film mixed animated cartoons with live action. Cop Bob Hoskins and Cartoon rabbit Roger team up to find out who's killing Toons in Los Angeles.
53. Kung Fury
Available free on Youtube, Kung Fury is a short film that was crowdfunded through Kickstarter and shot almost exclusively on green screen. It's another parody of 80s cop flicks but taken to extremes with Kung Fury leaping onto the top of his speeding Lamborghini for the trailer, whilst firing his pistol at some street thugs who just flipped a cop car with a skateboard. Ultimately Kung Fury hacks himself backwards through time to the stone age where vikings ride dinosaurs with machine guns and he ends up fighting Hitler. Yeah it's that kinda film and it's glorious.
54. Teeth
Teeth is a horror film. About a woman. Who has teeth. In a place you really don't want teeth.
55. Battle Royale
A masterpiece of Japanese cinema, a group of 100 highschoolers are forced to fight to the death using randomly assigned equipment. Not only spawned many other movies with similar themes but a whole genre of videogames.
56. Dragonslayer
Dragonslayer is the DnD film you've always wanted. An apprentice wizard sets out to kill a dragon after his master is killed. And it's from 1981. Makes you wonder how the DnD films turned out so bad.
57. Braindead (Dead Alive in the States)
Before Peter Jackson made the LOTR movies, he made super low budget horror comedies starring him and his friends. This classic horror parody of the zombie flick stood the test of time so much so that you'll see the infamous lawnmower scene referenced in many modern horror films and games.
58. Drunken Master II (Aka The Legend of Drunken Master)
Jackie Chan at his finest in this kung fu film about a master of the drunken boxing style of kung fu. It incorporates Jackie's trademark style of prop based comedy martial arts and culminates in a truly epic fight scene.
59. Moon
Great indie film about a man alone on a moonbase. Don't think it needs much more than that.
60. Stand by Me
A coming of age film about a group of kids who set out on an adventure to see a dead body. Had both River Phoenix and a young Wil Wheaton in it.
61. This is Spinal Tap
So many parodies. This comedy follows fictional metal band Spinal Tap on their new tour supporting the release of their new album. Full of hilariously cringy moments.
62. A Clockwork Orange
Based on the awesome book of the same name, A Clockwork Orange takes a look at juvenile violent gang culture in a future dystopia, following the downfall and subsequent forced rehabilitation of Alex de Large.
63. Disney's Robin Hood
In case it isn't obvious, Redwall instilled a love of anthropomorphic animals within me and Disney's Robin Hood marries that concept perfectly with the Robin Hood myth. Robin in this case is a fox, set off against the wolf Sheriff of Nottingham and the lion Prince John.
64. The Goonies
One of my favourite films as a kid, who doesn't love this coming of age movie about a gang of misfit friends setting out on an adventure to find buried treasure, getting embroiled with crime gang the Fratellis along the way.
65. Jurassic Park
I mean surely you've seen it but in case you haven't... Dinosaurs are brought to life on the isolated island of Isla Nublar with the intent of opening a theme park that families can visit. But when a storm hits the island, knocking out the power, the dinosaurs escape and the visitors must flee for their lives. Still a great film, and more Jeff Goldblum! At this point should we just say any film with Jeff Goldblum or Sigourney Weaver in is a must?
66. In Bruges
After accidentally shooting a child during an assassination attempt, two hitmen flee to Bruges as ordered by their boss to await further instructions.
67. Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
Not the disastrous remake that completely lacked every bit of charm that the original had. We're talking the 1971 classic with Gene Wilder's unhinged portrayal of the chocolate magnate. Perhaps it wasn't true enough to the book to please Roald Dahl but I think it's a pretty good effort nonetheless.
68. Ace Ventura 2: When Nature Calls
Way funnier than the first film, fight me! XD There's a lot of good Jim Carrey movies out there but this one really gets me with just the right balance of stupidity and Jim Carrey's wacky energy. Pet Detective Jim Carrey is tracked down at a remote buddhist retreat to try and trace a missing bat who's presence just might be able to stop a war between African tribes.
69. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
Jack Nicholson plays a criminal who pleads insanity to try and get a more lenient sentence. He ends up as the only sane man in the asylum, struggling to convince his warders that he is actually sane.
70. Face/Off
I'm a big Nic Cage fan and this film is one of his best. A cop and criminal trade faces so the cop can go undercover as him, but the criminal menaces the cop's family with his face and you know what, just go watch it cos it's confusing as hell to describe but incredible to watch. :P
71. Addams Family Values
The best of the Addams family films starring Raul Julia, Christopher Lloyd, Anjelica Huston and Christina Ricci as the spooky family. Although the first film was pretty good, this one is my fave as Uncle Fester meets his perfect woman and Wednesday and Pugsley run riot at Camp Chippawa.
72. Fortress
Christopher Lambert stars in this classic as a man who's wife is pregnant with their second child in a society with a strict one child policy. He is caught and sentenced to imprisonment in the underground prison called the Fortress. With each prisoner having a remote bomb inside them escape seems impossible.
73. Mars Attacks
Spoof of various B movies. Martians turn up to invade earth but are driven away with the power of country music.
74. Mad Max
No, not that one. The first one, the Mel Gibson one. The one with the ending that is basically the entire premise of the Saw films. A classic revenge film as a cop hunts the motorcycle gang that killed his wife.
75. Zoolander
A little dated now but still very funny. Male model and airhead Derek Zoolander is brainwashed into assassinating the prime minister of Malaysia.
76. Idiocracy
A man is accidentally frozen in time and thaws out in the far future. Humankind has bred out intelligence over the years and now exists as an entirely stupid society that has no idea how anything works, making this man the smartest man alive. It's satire of course and is kinda both tragic and comedic at the same time as you realise this is probably where our society is heading.
77. South Park
What is there to say. A funny film about censorship. Is it crude for crudeness' sake, or does it make a valid point about the pointlessness of being offended by every tiny thing? :S
78. Office Space
A man at his boring office job finds a way to embezzle money from the company.
79. Johnny Nmemonic
I probably spelt that wrong but come on. Before Keanu made it super famous in the Matrix he was in cyberpunk classic Johnny nme, nmo, menoma... meh, Johnny is a data courier who can store a whopping 320GB of data in his brain. XD Yeah yeah, but this was pre flash storage back when this was dreamed up and the premise is actually pretty fun.
80. Quick Change
I've seen this idea crop up again since but this is the first time I remember seeing it. A bunch of criminals rob a bank, then pose as hostages being released in order to make their escape. Bill Murray stars.
81. Virtual Nightmare
A man is in a car accident. Afterwards he starts to notice glitches in reality. A difficult to track down TV movie totally worth a watch. While it has similarities with and was overshadowed by the high budget of The Matrix which came out the year prior, the questions it raises are just as valid and interesting.
82. Predator
I couldn't resist, ok? Predator is another great Scwarzenegger outing as Ahnold and his team of marines head out into the jungle and find themselves up against an invisible alien that is hunting them. Classic cheesy one liners abound in this macho rampage.
83. Back to the Future
Great Scott, Marty! Did you think this wasn't gonna be on here? Of course it is. Classic time travel romp where Marty Mcfly accidentally prevents his parents from falling in love and finds himself victim of the Grandfather paradox.
84. Enter the Dragon
My favourite Bruce Lee film. Lee infiltrates a martial arts tournament held on a private island so that he can take down criminal overlord, Lord Han.
85. The Muppets: Treasure Island
Great family film starring the Muppets and Tim Curry as Long John Silver.
86. They Live
Ever heard the phrase, I cam here to kick ass and chew bubblegum and I'm all outta gum? This is where that comes from. Laughably cheesy B movie about a man who finds special sunglasses that allow him to see that some people are secretly aliens hiding among us. Stars wrestler Rowdy Roddy Piper and has one of the most ridiculously lengthy fight scenes in the history of film, often parodied.
87. Primer
Probably the most complex and intriguing film about time travel, it was made on a low budget and written by a guy with a degree in maths and engineering who deliberately chose not to dumb down the science behind it. Super rewarding when you wrap your head around it though it might take multiple watches or a post film walkthrough.
88. Source Code
From the same guy who brought you Moon a soldier wakes up in someone else's body on a train with a terrorist bomber on board. When the bomb goes off and kills him he finds himself waking up in the same place. He soon learns this is a simulation in which he must stop and identify the bomber...
89. Time Lapse
A group of people find a room sized camera that has taken a picture of their apartment, tomorrow. Simple premise with a satisfying resolution.
90. Timecrimes (Los Cronocrimenes)
A spanish language film about the perils of traveling within your own timeline. A man accidentally gets sent back in time a mere hour and a half and yet somehow manages to beans it up big style in a tragedy of errors that sees multiple versions of himself interfering with each others efforts to interfere with each other in a kind of self fulfilling cycle.
91. The Invention of Lying
Ricky Gervais stars as a man who lives in a version of our world where people only tell the truth, until the day he tells a lie and realises the scope of his new powers.
92. The Naked Gun
Ok, I know I already put Loaded Weapon on here but lets go ahead and just say all the Naked Gun films are pretty hilarious as well. Leslie Nielsen is a very funny man and the films are pretty cheeky which makes them fun for older kids as well as adults.
93. One Hour Photo
Robin Williams stars as the bad guy for once, playing the creepy man at the photo development counter... remember those? Well anyway, he gets a little obsessed with the mother of a family who regularly drops her photos off for developing.
94. Upgrade
Another cyberpunky type of film. After a man is left paralyzed and his wife dead after a violent attack by thugs, a computer genius installs him with a chip that gives him his mobility back. The chip also houses an AI which allows him to set about getting his revenge.
95. The Emperor's New Groove
There's a whole load of really funny Disney films but I really love this one about a lazy, dumb, egotistical and largely useless emperor who is deposed by being turned into a llama and must fight to reclaim his throne.
96. The Wrong Trousers
Wallace and Grommit's second outing comes with more energy than the original and an improvement in the claymation too. You'll never trust a penguin again.
97. Ju-On
Another Japanese film, Ju-on will make you shit your pants. Avoid the terrible American remake (The Grudge) and watch this Japanese original, in the dark, alone. I dare ya!
98. House on Haunted Hill
Either the 1959 Vincent Price original or the equally fun 1999 remake, both are a fun horror romp about a group of people offered a sum of money to spend the night in a haunted house.
99. Don't Breathe
A group of thieves break into the house of a wealthy blind man to rob him. What starts as a simple premise rapidly degrades into batshit insane by the end.
100. The Witch
A 17th century family living on the outskirts of civilization fear they are being targeted by witchcraft when the youngest son goes missing.
101. Tusk
Another monosyllabic name beginning with a T (which was funnier when this came after Teeth in the list), Tusk is another horror film. Yeah, sue me, horror films are clearly the superior genre. Tusk is one of those films where it's really best to just go in blind. Really, don't look anything up, just go watch it.
