Good question. I would expect there to be a group of higher-ups in charge of delegating assignments, and it would probably come in the form of a written order from a scribe or secretary to the group, unless of course she was there in person.

Question: would the IB require anything monetary if a member is killed? I'm thinking that as Viales is leaving, a token amount of his goes back to the IB (this would not affect Nirili's share)

If you're referring to the IB (Inglorious Basterds), no. If there was any family, maybe the company would, but by nature most members are outcasts, orphans, etc, so there really wouldn't be any. Zandorian was not under any contract with the Enclave so his involvement, and subsequent death, in this encounter would also negate the need for any compensation.

Although, Zandorian's family, depending on their relationship, may want revenge on the families of the cultists

Yeah I agree. The IB are mercs. If someone dies on a contract, that's IB business, no debt to the client. They've already paid the agreed price which takes those risks into account. And yes, Zandorian wasn't currently under contract at all.
