I figured I'd put something here ready for when things kick off.

Starting soon-ish. Ricochet moved house recently, should have a char coming up in a couple of days. If I don't see at least an outline by Friday then I'll start without him and just bring him in en route. Prepare your butts.

Although if they cast Enlarge Person on themselves before going in, that save DC is going to be 40 rather than 20.

Also Charon, if you kill this character off with a plant, I'mma be so mad. You've already claimed one character and almost claimed my other one!

How's Gnutmyx's yellow text?

I'm still on light theme and it seems readable to me, but as Gryndel used to say, I've got young eyes. I'll find something else if the contrast is bad.

Yep, no worries, just doing that old classic dm trick of asking a simple yes question so I know everyone has seen that the game has started and is ready to go. ^^

So what knowledge do we have of Pale Bridge, the Warlord Tarsk and his Purple Blades? I'd like to know before any inane questions get asked and the asker gets eaten.

...well, if the Purple Blades are the lowest ranking members of the Purple Dragon knights of Cormyr, I have a bit more knowledge than naught.

[edit] at first I thought Charon was asking the question... it's been a looooong day, what's your excuse?

XD

I would say enough of you are familiar with the basics of this. Pale bridge is a small town that straddles a river, not unlike that eastern bit outside of Baldur's gate. So imagine half the town on the northern bank and half on the southern with a bridge connecting the two.
The Warlord Tarsk is just that, a warlord who rules the town. It's a hub for smuggled goods, being out of the way and under control of Tarsk rather than any specific authority. Given that we're a little away from "civilised" society, the town is no stranger to the occasional non-human presence, though walking in as a group would be likely to draw many eyes. The kobolds are probably among the most suspicious, given the obvious inference of their loyalties. Gnutmyx would probably stand out like a sore thumb too.
The Purple Blades are the mercenary force that Tarsk controls. You can expect to find them well armed and equipped, policing the town and often patrolling, especially the northern approach which has a road that most goods go up, heading off to more civilised lands. Depending on how 'alert' the town is the guards on the entrances may or may not be Purple Blades.
They have no alliance or links to the PDKs of Cormyr. Just a co-incidence.

I'm wondering if we'd already know how to slip in and out of the town undetected. If so, that's the most likely method. If not, we will have some planning to do...

I'm not sure why I didn't pick up on this being FR. Are the docks on both sides of the river, or just one?

It's "FR" in the sense of, I made up this town on a made up river but in terms of demographic expectations, magic level, etc, yeah, it's FR. :P

Also, yeah, figuring out a way into Pale Bridge, pretty much part of the one shot. :)

Also, also, yes, there is a dock on either side of the river and no guarantee which one the merchant will use. Karr doesn't know for certain which berths will be free at any given point so it's pretty much a coin toss. You may or may not have to cross the bridge depending which side you enter from, but more on that later. :)

And in the night sky, the guards will probably think it a fairly large bat.
That may work for avoiding patrols.

If we were to encounter a patrol, and notified them that we had business with Gerard Keffler in town, how likely would they be to leave us be?

That depends on how glib your chosen spokesperson might be. Kobolds are definitely suspicious after all, given the extreme likelihood that they're up to some nefarious purpose for one dragon or another. Likewise, Gnutmyx with his accoutrements, a known dragonsworn. Bashnag and Ullo might at least be able to stroll into town without attracting too much attention. Even if you blagged your way in as a group there'd no doubt be eyes on the kobolds and goblin, watching for any trouble.

As for mentioning Keffler, Ullo is smart enough to read between the lines. Karr heard about Keffler's arrival at fairly short notice. He's clearly come here in secrecy. Mentioning his name might draw more suspicion if anything.

Well, being very, very glib any single one of us I think it is worth a try to go 'convincing' the local bullywugs to let us through. In other words: Let's go bully us some wugs! Hah!

I'm seeing a general consensus for route 2, the bullywug swamp.
Any further input from Grodech or Ricochet, either for or against?
