Can Nirili take a 5 foot step or are we still in that difficult terrain situation? G1 wasn't smart enough to take a flanking position...

Yeah that was why he couldn't. He'd have to draw an AOO or take an extra turn manoeuvring.
I'm afraid five foot steps are off the cards.

Yeah its still difficult terrain. Roots don't disappear, fireball or not xD

Seeing as he failed to prepare any spells for flying enemies, he'll simply cast Cat's Grace on himself and reposition to T10 as Shield wears off.
Spoiler
HP: 19/30
AC: 24 (base 21, +1 Dodge, +2 from Cat's Grace (Dex at 22).

Nirili will move to T14 - Mobility feat makes her AC 24 vs the AOO. The move action only allows for the longsword attack. C4 is now flanked.

Longsword attack:
[9]+10 = 19
1d20+10:  [
9
] +10 = 19

Damage:
[8]+3 = 11
1d8+3:  [
8
] +3 = 11

Flanking allows for Sneak Attack damage:
[5] = 5
1d6:  [
5
] = 5

AOO 21 to hit which is a miss vs Nirili.

Unfortunately, despite the reposition, a 19 does not hit the cultist. He's ready for you as you struggle to reposition in the undergrowth, parrying your blow aside.

C6 will move to P10 and engage the guard captain, striking out with unnatural speed.
He rolled poorly. XD
The guard captain is similarly prepared, watching the fast approach and relying on years of training to turn the blow aside.

Timidity is up.

G1 will take the flank attack with Nirili.
Nat 1.
Iterative...

10 slashing damage.

G2 will sheath his sword and draw his crossbow.

C4 will attack Nirili seeing as he's had luck striking her.
16 to hit.

GC will will double move to M10.

C7 will cast another spell on himself (Spellcraft DC 17).

Viales is up.

Question: how close is C7 to the nearest tree, and do the branches look like they could snap off at a moment's notice?

He cast Protection from Arrows.

C7 is up near the top of the canopy. You could attempt pulling branches off, but 15 ft up they're gonna be fairly small branches. Looking at the map, I'd suggest the only tree with big enough branches would be the one to the north which is ten foot away from him.

The clearings are essentially smaller tree areas. Obviously if the whole map was tree leaves we wouldn't be able to see anything, so even in those clearings there are smaller trees.

Whilst he is developing this convoluted plan, Viales suddenly remembers a scroll that they picked up from the underground place. Scorching Ray. Aha! Something that he can (hopefully) hit this flying schnerb with.

He'll move to Q9 and pull it out.

Oof. What did you do to piss off the dice gods?

C6 will engage the Guard Captain.
15 to hit.

Extra attack due to haste:
Nat 20.
Confirmation:

Well it's a hit, for 13 slashing too.

It's a big hit, but the GC takes it like a champ.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news.
It doesn't hit.

Think you might be working under the assumption the DC is 11 + spell level. It's 11 + caster level.
I'll update other moves tomorrow as I need to update the map as I go.

C4 is going to continue trying to hack through Nirili.

C7 will draw his wand of Magic Missile and fire off missiles at Viales, Guard Captain and Guard 2. Damage respectively is 2, 5, 3.

Viales is up. The only change to the most recent map is that Viales is in Q9, so not gonna post the new one yet.

C4 will continue trying to take out Nirili.

GC will engage C6 and hit for 13 damage.

The mage will use his wand of magic missile to hit GC, Nirili and Timidity in that order for 4, 4, 4 damage.
The Guard Captain falls.
